Summer Friendship builders group

A 5-Week Social Communication Group

Does your child want to make friends but have trouble connecting with peers?

Rainbow Promises Speech Therapy is offering Friendship Builders, a 5-week social communication group designed to help children build confidence, practice friendship skills, and learn how to connect with others in a supportive, small-group setting.

This group is a great fit for children who may:

  • Want to make friends but struggle to connect

  • Have difficulty starting or keeping conversations

  • Feel unsure in social situations

  • Need support reading social cues

  • Benefit from structured practice with peers

Each week includes a Social Skills Lesson + Social Lab model. Children will first learn and practice specific social communication strategies through direct teaching, role-play, games, and activities. They will then have opportunities to use those skills in more natural, real-life practice through conversations, group games, snack/lunch social time, and community-style activities.

Skills may include:

  • Starting and continuing conversations

  • Asking questions and making comments

  • Joining a group

  • Reading body language and tone of voice

  • Handling awkward moments

  • Building confidence with peers

  • Practicing flexible thinking and problem-solving in social situations
